Let’s face it. You probably already know that we are big fans of tasty treats at the Disney Parks. It can be something as simple as a Mickey Pretzel or something as complex as the small plates served up at the wonderful Epcot Festivals. However, the one snack we will always go back for is that refreshing, pineapple delicacy.. So, we were tremendously happy when we discovered this recipe and could finally make our own copy-cat version, right at home. Now, with this Disney Dishes Dole Whip Recipe, you will too!
Our Disney Dishes Dole Whip Recipe is a surprisingly easy one to recreate. Part of that simplicity is a fairly small list of components. As a matter of fact, there are only 5 that you will need. Better yet, they should be readily available in your local grocery store.
Depending on where you reside in the country (or the world), the one ingredient you may find difficult to obtain is the Fresh Pineapple. If you can find it, I suggest you use it, though. For no other reason than it simply elevates the finished product. It’s also nice to use a couple of fresh wedges as a garnish. However, if you can’t track it down, Frozen Pineapple is perfectly acceptable. In a pinch, you can even use Canned Pineapple Chunks, as well.
Let’s get our whip on!
Possibly the most important thing to know about creating our Disney Dishes Dole Whip Recipe is that you’ll want to keep all of the components as cold as possible. So, getting them in the freezer or refrigerator is a vital first step.
We’ll begin with the Fresh Pineapple. You’ll want to trim away the outer skin, making sure that as few brown spots or seed remain as possible. Cut about half of the Trimmed Pineapple into about 1/2 inch chunks. This should give you about the 2 cups you will need. Place them in an air-tight container and add to the freezer until completely frozen. At least one hour. The remaining Fresh Pineapple can be cut into wedges to be used as a garnish, if desired.
Next, peel the Bananas and cover in plastic wrap. Place them in the freezer for at least one hour, as well.
As for the other elements, I suggest adding the Coconut Milk and Fresh Lime Juice to the refrigerator to chill.
I would also recommend that you may want to place the canister of your blender into the freezer to get as cold as possible, too. About 20 minutes ahead of the time that you place on using it should work just fine.
Once your items are fully frozen or chilled, it’s time for the “whip” part of our Disney Dishes Dole Whip Recipe. This is easy and it will go quickly.
Add all of the ingredients to your blender and puree until smooth. This should take about 1 to 2 minutes.
That’s it!
You can then either added to a piping bag with a large tip and squeeze it into your serving dishes. Or you can just make it easy and spoon it in, instead.
We will always be honest with you. This Disney Dishes Dole Whip Recipe is extremely delicious and the closest we’ve come across to the ones you’ll find in the Disney Parks. However, it isn’t perfect.
Yes, it’s creamy, tangy, and sweet, like you’d expect. The Pineapple also comes through in the big way that you’d hope for.
However, because we are using Coconut Milk and Banana to create the rich and creamy texture we’re looking for, you also get a hint of the flavor of those in each spoonful. That’s both good and bad. It adds a lot to the dish and gives it almost a light “Piña Colada-like” taste. That’s the good. The bad is, it’s just slightly off from the Whip you’ll find at the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.
It’s still great and I highly recommend you make it and judge for yourself. No matter whether you feel it’s really close to the original or just another flavorful copy, we think you’re going to love it!
